In 1978 at Kent State University where I was an undergraduate, I did my first performance art extravaganza, Mass Mediocrity, a kind of happening as part of Glynnis Martin's "Campus Week" program for which she had some funding. She was kind enough to hire me to be the opening act so I lined up dozens of people I knew in the area--on campus and off--who were doing interesting things and made them all kind of happen at once with me as the Master of Ceremonies.
